Not sure what you mean by "and then nothing" but I’m going to presume (which is almost the same thing as “assume”) that you mean that the PTO works but there is no noise. I had the same thing on my 560 and when I changed the oil in the planetary PTO unit, the noise stopped. I’m thinking that the unit was a bit low on oil, and vibrations from the front shaft spinning were more easily transmitted though the cast to where you can hear them. It could also be the pulley on the front PTO brake has begun to work loose on the input shaft. Just some ideas, maybe they will help.
