TWL remove all but 1 wire and bush the button and see if the gage moves about half way. Do all 6 this way 3 at a time should move the gage all the way. That gives you a good idea, to be sure the only way is to remove them and do the test to see it the end gets hot and to see if the end is not partly burnt off because a burnt off end can stil move the gage in the first test. I know they can be hard to get out but that is the way it is.
