The Red...GM engine

If memory serves me, that engine you just got running has a mechanical fuel pump. Since the engine has not run in a long while there is a good chance the diaphram in the fuel pump is going to burst. If it does it will flood the crankcase with gas if insects have clogged the vent hole in the side of the pump. These pumps are cheap at auto discount stores, as compared to the source of the machine, and I would replace it. I would not expect any problem from the water pump as it has a face seal. Good luck
