An RPM counter is nothing more than a hand held device that that can give you accurate RPM readings for anything that goes round and round. All kidding aside, they usually have a rubber pointer on the end that can be inserted into a center drilled hole such as your PTO shaft while tractor is running. They also have interchangeable diameter rubber wheels that can be held against known diameters to give RPM raediongs also. Allways use caution while doing these tests as you know the dangers of a rotating PTO shaft. I would recommend a helper be present.
