Chris, what I would do is to get #1 piston on TDC on the compression stroke (#1 is closest to the fan). Make a mark on the side of the distributor where one of the spark plug towers is on the dist. cap. It really doesn't matter which one, just pick one. That will be your #1 plug wire. Remove the distributor at the 90 degree connection. That will diconnect the distributor shaft gear from the gear on the shaft going to the hyd pump. Now reinstall the dist. with the rotor on so that the rotor is pointing directly at the mark you made on the side. You may have to do it a couple of times because the dist. shaft will turn a bit as you engage the gears. Do you have a hand crank for your M? It would work well to turn the engine maybe 1/2 turn and then see which way the distributor rotor turned. Then all you have to do is connect your spark plug wires accordingly. Firing order is 1-3-4-2. Time the engine as you normally would. Let me know if this isn't clear and I'll try to 'splain it better! Paul
