The throttel may need a new friction ring and what ever else ya find wore out , As far as the shifter goes there again start at the top and work your way down the least littel ware will affect the shifting and ya don't have to run out and buy some super secert shifter fixer to do this pull the cowel off and start looken for excess movement and fallow it on down and repalce the headed pins and don't just put in any old pin as most of the time they are to long and will rub on something else then on to the shifter covers most times 706's don't want to go into reverse the problemis the shaft that goes into the reverse shifter fork the keyway get beet out and then ya got to much slop that needs to be replaced sometime i have found the fork is broken . You must pull the side plate off the side of the range trans buy the step you will only lose about a gal of hytran that is where you will find rev. you also have to pull the deck plate off and the shifter cover it helps with and extra set of hands , you may find some problems under there and replace just what is needed if the cover is wore take it to a machine shop and have it bored out and rebushed with a steel bushing and don't try and cheet with a tube of Dr. Blue that will cause other problems later . The biggest problem with the shifting on the 06 and up seires is the clutch adjustment and dump valve as they must be kept in adjustment or hard shifting will resualt. When they are wright they shift smooth as silk. I have done somany of these that i can do them in my sleep. If ya run into problems just yell.
