Im not a expert but Ive done a few. I have never used nothing on the head gasket at all just clean both surfaces real good. Torque too specs.When I put back together I use silicone for a temporary vavle cover gasket, Then run it for a couple of days easy then Take valve cover back off and re torque, Then use my Valve cover gasket ,Run her a little easy at first too let her get broke in good. Just my 2 cents Jay
