I think that antifreeze is very corrosive once it loses its rust inhibitor. I had a 283 Chevy block bored oversize and had new freeze plugs installed and some rusted thru in less than a year of running. I installed new plugs made from neophrene and you tightened them with a wrench. They were hard to get to with the engine still in the truck. I installed new antifreeze too when I installed this engine. It will cause a lot of radiator problems too, if it isn't changed and having the radiator back flushed. A major cause of overheating when those tubes are blocked. You were lucky in finding your leak. Hal
