I'd check with the shop. I had purchased a 'remanufactured' head that had all the valve seats installed a little too deep on one side. Instead of sending the head back to have them try again, I took it over to the local Harley shop (Donahues) and had their machinist fix it. When I got it back he said the valves did not need to be lapped, it was ready to go.
