The best books I've found for early Farmall reference is the Photo Archive series. They only have pictures and very little written information. Most of the recent books that have pictures of restorations have a lot of flaws as far as showing how the tractors actually were. I am not a purist but when I restore I like to know what I am shooting for as apposed to what someone else decided to settle on. I have seen starters on F-12 but I don't believe any came from the factory that way.
