I used the newer style GM alternator on my H. They are just a little smaller in diameter so it has a little more clearance under the hood. If you click on Parts & Pieces here on the left and at the bottom of that page type Ken Koch in the Search for: and click on 1946 Farmall H - Alternator Installation, you can see how I mounted my alternator and I have a better explanation of how I did it.
