Robert, I made a spacer and put it just under the thrust washer on my H. I put it there because, in this case, those were the two flattest surfaces to work with. Vertical endplay will add extra wear to the pivot shaft bushings over time and it makes sense to minimize it. The front end on this tractor now has .012" of endplay and doesn't make that banging noise on rough roads/pastures.
