MN farmer: The 544 would have used a 13.6x38 as standard tire when new. That's not to say 13.6x38 is right, times have changed, soil compaction has become an issue so larger tire are very much in order. If tractor has it's original rims, they are probably not wide enough to give the 15.5 tire it's proper shape on surface. Every rear tractor tire will have a recomended rim width. That suggested rim width will give you best traction. I have seen 13.6 tires actually out pull 15.5 simply because they were on proper rim size and 15.5 was not. You may also find by now 544 rims are getting a bit ripe. Don't know about your area, but around these parts, there seems to be several sets of good tires mounted on rims at every auction. Be careful not to increase diameter too mach, as you could soon zap the power of the 544. That is the beauty of going 15.5 replacing 13.6, difference in diameter is not great.
