Hi Rusty, The flim that comes on 'em is kinda a purplish/redish stuff. Very thin coat masking a 1156 bulb. I remembered when I was a kid tryin' to look "Kewl", I'd take fingernail polish and dope the park lite bulbs on my old car. Seemed to work back then. Dunno what else to do with the silly thing. Allan
