Hi,I have a 1941 A also, with a snow plow on the front I try to use as a bulldozer.I can push a little gravel taking small bites then I can back drag it out where needed.This is a tough little tractor.I love it like one loves a Harley.That being said rent the trencher as recommended by the other guys.You can rent a Vermeer small unit that will make a nice trench and place the soil neatly along side the trench to be replaced when done.Trying to use the A wont dig a trench unless you attached a Cadigger homemade backhoe or some such thing that would take time and money to build.
