Make sure your wheels are tight on the axel. Another issue with that engine, if it has a lot of time on it, the crank can move forward and back allowing the crank throw to tap the pan. I can't remember now if that was when pulling or idleing. I replaced the bearings (mains and rod) and it stopped. I had issue with the loose wheel too. About drove me nuts and I was ready for a teardown before I noticed a broken wheel wedge bolt.
