I went looking around for a combine carb in the local salvage yard, and tripped over a nice old tractor. It is a 53 Super M, just a plain jane, with a 264 engine. It has went through a fire, burned the tires off it, and the paint. The sheet metal was so straight on it, I couldn't pass it up without finding out the story on it. Engine turns over, starter still works, it's rusty from the fire. Did not even melt the distributor cap off it! Id say it was not a real hot fire it was in,, just enought to burn up the paint, and the tires. has 14 inch rims on the back, 2 sets of weights. I think I will restore this one. Not gonna scrap it like some would if they seen them in this condition, mechanics special!! LOL! paid $300 for it. I figured the engine is worth that! well, off to go pick it up! ChadS

Field Modifications (Sins of the Farmer) - by Staff. Picture a new Chevrolet driving down the street without it's grill, right fender and trunk lid. Imagine a crude hole made in the hood to accommodate a new taller air cleaner, the fender wells cut away to make way for larger tires, and half of a sliding glass door used to replace the windshield. Top that off with an old set of '36 Ford headlight shells bolted to the hood. Pretty unlikely for a car... but for a tractor, this is pretty normal. It seems that more often than not they a
