I have both a 400 and a SMTA and I use HyTrans in both. I split the 400 and put a rebuilt TA in and it was recomended then to run HyTrans in it. When I split my SMTA of course what I drained out was thick calf poop. When I got into the TA and all tore down all the springs and pins were gummed up with sticky old gear lube. I was able to clean it up and reassemble with parts from two TA's. This is the reason that I was informed it's best to use the HyTrans, that it is thiner and gives better lubrication with out as much gumming. I have had to replace two axle seals but that was not to much trouble. The 400 TA has been going strong for 12 years and my SMTA for 3 years now. Good Luck! Ernie Bob
