Here on the bald and flat prairie on the east side of Calgary, we have almost gotten rid of the snow. You have to love our weather here. 'Cause if you don't you will just kill yourself. 2 weeks ago we hit 19C, Sunday April 10th we sat around in shorts with no t-shirts on. Then last Wednesday we got snow (zapped the asparagus)and cold. Saturday the 16th as windy as a hurricane, yesterday was a nice day and then we woke up to snow this morning... My ground isn't thawed enough to pound fence posts yet and my septic field is still frozen. We will put the potatoes and other seeds in the garden on the May long weekend but too many years of experience have taught us that none of the seeded plants can go in the ground before the second weekend in June. And it all better grow quickly because we will get our first killing frost around September 21. Now that I am done ranting, can someone please tell my why anyone would want to farm in this climate? Ranching yes, farming no. I actually love it here but I am glad I farm as a hobby, not for an income. Sean

How can I explain the sensation and exhilaration I feel when I turn the key and hear the engine come to life (most
