Yeh, I know what you mean...sometimes we must just overlook the small noises....there are alot of harmless noises that can be emmitted from an engine...the tip of the valve where it contacts the rockerarm can be one area, when i worked in a machine shop we used to dress the valve tip for this very reason...i think this is mostly over looked now-a-days...it does tend to "bug" a guy though... also there is cam walk, which can make noise, timing gears too...noise can be transmitted to different parts of the motor....keep in mind that mechanical lifters do tend to make for a noisey valve train
