706-856 Front Grilles, Do they interchange?

A friend of mine has a 706 that needs a new grille. He likes the look of the 56 series better. Does the 756/856 with the grey cross bars insert(not cast sides) fit? Thanks.
P.S. Why did IH use that ugly bar grille on the 806, intead of the same as the 706? I betcha' you can't put a dent in that one though! Thanks
