Daniel,
I do not know your need for traction or the condition of your existing tire. However, if you need just the turf requirement and you existing tires are so so, I suggest the following. Get a power hand plane as used for carpenter work and cut the cleats off your existing tires until they are only nubs with the edges rounded. This modified tires will not damage the yard and you will have adequate grip for mower work.
