My 460 came without one. I went to the dealer and got the same news you got, but could also tell by the size that it would be in the way of my 3 pt conversions toplink. An experienced parts man gave me a hollow brass plug and told me to drill a hole in the side pointing up so rain would not get in. Have run it that way over a year with no problems.
