Don’t know about a downsized W-9. However on somewhat related note, the link below is to a photo of a scratch-built, quarter-scale John Deere R at the 2003 JD Expo VI in Canandaigua NY.

Engine is a 4 cylinder Perkins diesel salvaged from a refer power unit. The engine was cut in half and laid flat making it a “correct” 2 cylinder. The pony motor is adapted from a weed whacker and starts the diesel. The tractor has a fully operational clutch and transmission.

The little R is operated via radio control. The owner and his wife sit in a cart hitched to the tractor and control it via a hand-held R/C transmitter. To the casual observer it appears the doll in the R’s seat is driving them around.

At idle it even sounds kinda like an R. Fascinating machine that draws a crowd wherever it is!
