Question is this. Option may arise in near future where can purchase a JD 6600 in pretty good shape. Have been around combine some but never actually operated. Our Farm now is rented and tended fellow who tends likely to farm 5-10 more years. Tobacco buyout has occured. Some tell me buyout in future this may lead to some land not being farmed. Have no immediate use for the machine now, but if above does happen could have use for machine in future which would likely be used on 50-75 acres. How much would machine be worth? Would it be ok to tarp cover for that period of time probably sit in edge of wood to knock of as much weather as possible? If purchased and not used could any depreciation be claimed as far as tax angle? Farm is Dad's and farm not his primary interest right now. I look after some of the upkeep cause it's home and it's tended by by good farmer at present. Land is mostly suited for tobacco sandy loamy ground. Would it make sense to buy this machine to have or would it be waste of money? Or would getting someone to custom be better option? Not much profit probably either way. Thanks

I’d probably plowed about 3000 acres (in my head anyway) by the time they found me. This is where my love for tractors started and has only gotten worse in my tender 50 yrs on this “green planet”. I’m par
