It is not tension, it is not plunger travel. The charge of hay is not being placed squarely in the center of the plunger. If you can't get the feeder mechanism to get hay to the left side, you need heavier windrows, or try picking up the hay to the right end of the pickup. More time in the cross feed can help some. Or just rerake to double the windrows. Adjusting fingers is tricky for some people. Remember you want the fingers to go as far in front of the plunger as you can get. You may have to play with it to see exactly how the adjustments affect the maximum finger travel.
