Matthew - A couple of thoughts: 1 – If you’ve truly got a voltage regulator and not a cutout installed (a regulator has 4 terminals labeled GEN, BAT, FLD and L), the light switch will have no effect on charging rate. (The L and H light switch positions are both now simply “off” positions for the lights) 2 – 5 amps of charge only at mid-idle is puzzling. It should be closer to 10 – 15 amps from mid-idle to full RPM. A couple of possibilities for this: It’s wired up wrong. Here’s a link for a diagram how a regulator should be wired up: http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4001561&a=30065733&p=60243464 If you find it’s wired up OK, then try working your way through the troubleshooting chart here: http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4001561&a=30065733&p=63426275 It will not correct the problem, but it will help you identify which component is causing the problem. Good luck!!

I tried to use an easy out but it wasn't budging and I didn't want t
