I'm familiar with the Austin-Western 99H grader, my dad had a pair of them. We eventually replaced the IH diesels with 4-71 Detroit Diesels. As I recall, this was a pretty straightforward swap. Back in the 70's and 80's, you could get parts for these graders from Clark Equipment, which bought out Austin-Western. Clark has since disappeared through mergers; I don't know if anyone still supplies new parts for the old Austin-Westerns. The A-W 99 was quite a grader in its day (the late forties and early fifties). It featured both four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering; the latter allows the 99 to turn in a relatively short radius (relative to other graders, that is).
