My question to you is why a altenator? If you have the three brush generator with the adj screw on the back end you can put out more amps and volts than you will need for a 12 volt system. Ground your field post and one wire from regulator back to your amp meter and battery. I had to put a resister between the field and ground because I was getting over 15 amps and was getting about 16 volts to the battery. All electricial shops say it won't work. I didnt believe it until I tried it. It works on 8n's (10 years) and my M Farmall.
