Gene, serial number suffixes were used on the letter series tractors to define many different options. The most common designation was the fuel configuration. Gasolene was identified by suffix X1, Kerosent X or X3, and distillate no suffix or X17. Since you have no suffix, your tractor would be a distillate model. You refer to "Dual fuel". This is a generic name given to any configuration which required starting on gasolene and running on either distillate, or kerosene. My source for this info is "Farmall letter series tractors" published by Guy Fay and Andy Kraushaar. While there are no doubt many other sources for the same information, this book is probably the most reliable as it was researched back to IHC archived material.
