If nothing else,its proven that Champion plugs are made of the softest steel in the plug business.Thats why every one is plated...otherwise they would rust away to nothing.The Autolites were proven the hardest material.Of course this may be the body material and not the actual ground/center electrodes...and with todays platinums/Iridiums/Gold Palladiums,the body material isnt really an operating issue.And there is more choice today than ever,because if you use adapters,a modern peanut style plug could be used if the big old "antique" ones dont cut the mustard.
