MD engine block same as........?

I have picked up an old Galion 402 grader. The engine looks the same as what we had in our 300 and 350 years ago. The engine is complete but froze, and am told bad head gasket. I can get a good running engine out of an MD. Are the blocks the same for bolt-up purposes. I'd like to get it because then this old girl would be diesel. But don't want to get the engine if it won't bolt up. Thanks
