Definately take the head off.We have an old formula the father in law came up with ,it works well.Get a gallon of liquid WD 40,1 qt of tranny fluid,and one medium sized can of brake fluid, comind these ingreediants and shake befor fillin the cylinders with it.We have broke free a good may engines with this formula ,some time and alot of elbow grease. Workin the crank backward and forward and one engine ,6 cylinder Herculese we had to use heat on the block . Just invest some time in it a prayer er two will help also. Good luck . Fred
