Allen, The bent push rod can be straightened and used as long as there is no damage to the ends and it's not bent to a point that it is just junk. You may find a rod from someone here or you can check a tractor salvage yard or maybe you can find one on Ebay if yours isn't repairable. You need to soak the valve stems with a solvent like WD 40 to loosen any rust etc that would make the valves stick. You need to look for the reason the rod bent IE; stuck valve or rocker too loose etc. Yes, the engines are pretty easy to work on and there are many-many guys on this forum to help you along. When you say you can turn the engine over on the upper pulley, I assume the bottom pulley is turning too ? The upper pulley is just for the cooling fan and the lower one is the important one to be able to turn. Gary
