Allen and I usually agree, but I have to add a “disclaimer” to his straightening out the push rod comment. Disclaimer: “IF you have the ability (or know someone that has) to determine if it is PERFECTLY straight, then yes they can be straightened.” (Sorry Allen) If they are not true, then there will always be force trying to bend it again and it will bend easier than a perfectly straight one. He is right, you need to find the reason that it bent and correct it. I would also do a compression check on it to make sure that the cylinders are in decent shape (you might want to put a couple of teaspoons of oil in first) and that you don’t have a hole in a piston. (If a valve hit a piston it would bend the rod but also might damage the piston.) These engines aren’t hard to work one except for removing the front crankshaft pulley which really takes a bearing splitter or other home made device to spread the pulling force on the pulley. If you aren’t familiar with engines a shop manual will give you invaluable information, most here I believe would suggest a Blue Ribbon (IH) Manual. IT makes one also that will help a lot. Most important is ask questions if in doubt. This forum is very good about giving out information and I have yet to see a “stupid” question posted here. Good Luck
