If the oil pressure gauge was removed, did they think to plug up the oil line ? If not, you could literally see if you have any oil pressure. Best bet would be to stick any old pressure gauge on it so you know where you are. No sense needlessly wrecking the crank or cam. If it has not run for years, take the valve cover off and pour a pint of oil over the push rods and lifters.
