I see what you mean. I have a 350 so have never had to buy huge quantities of hyd oil. However, I think a new pump for my 350 (new - not rebuilt) is around $300.00 - maybe more. I can buy a lot of hyd oil for that much money. An older farmer once told me to change hyd oil and trans oil (including PTO) at least once every two years. Alternate the years and keep the cost down. He also changed his motor oil and filter about 3 times a year and greased the thing to death. I don't recall him having much trouble at all, but he was one who loved to tinker with stuff - kinda like me!!
