I recently ordered a sleeve and piston set for my I-4 tractor, engine serial # IBHM 16574, from a supposed large and well reputed mail order company. When ordering the kit I asked the sales rep if he was aware of a change in piston styles used in the IH and Farmall tractors to which he answered "no," and informed me that their kit would work with all IH and Farmall tractors of the 4 and H series. Hesitantly I went ahead and placed my order. When I received the kit, I found the pistons to be of the "domed" type, as compared to my original pistons that are flat topped. My question is, Does anyone know if the domed pistons can be interchanged with flat top pistons and not cause interference problems with the heads that were designed for flat top pistons? Thank you.
