Len - Another possibility is the cam gear hub has broken. It's not uncommon with the C264 engine with a live hydraulic pump - it happened to a buddy's 400 a couple years ago. Can check by unbolting the distributor drive housing from the hydraulic pump (2 bolts) and removing it. Now watch the slotted distributor drive coupling on the backside of the hyd pump while you crank the engine. If the coupling does not turn it means the cam gear has failed. Not a difficult job to install a new cam gear but it requires removing some heavy parts from the front end (entire front bolster assembly and radiator) to get to it.
