I recently bought a Mc C Farmall 460. Constant problem with garbled exhaust.Sometimes missing and backfiring The situation grows worse as rpm increases.Excellent and even compression on all cylinders.I have proper timing, new and good coil points, condenser, dist cap and wires.Cleaned and re-cond carb.and rebuilt the governor.I also had to replace a valve rotator and spring on # 6 cylinder. At this point I am wondering what I have missed.Manifolds are not leaking.Float level checked and OK. Gas flow to carb. is good. Has anyone out there had a similar problem.I am suspecting possibly bad timing gears or valve float.I need suggestions. Second problem is power steering.Power assistance is very poor .This tractor is fitted with a very heavy front loader but I am not certain that this is the cause of the problem. If there is a hydraulic filter in the system please let me know where it is located along with any other advice.I have the repair manuals but cannot locate either one of them.

On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
