Hi Oldtymer, I know the block your are talking about. It has a shut off valve and slow/fast valve. Never had this valve body off so don't know problems one could get into. It must have been a shorter bolt on the 434 as I remember only being able to turn it with open end wrench and there wasn't enough clearance to remove the bolt but slid the cover forward enough to pass the valve body. The problem with our 434 was, it would jump out of 2nd gear going down a hill. There was a detent on a fork shaft that was worn. I also remember it was a bit of a struggle to get everything lineup and back together. Good luck JB2
