Personally, I think Gordo is trying to compare spaghetti to sauce here. When people IM or go to chat they are basically doing rather idle conversation. Most here on the forum are asking questions seeking information about something or are responding with that information for them. When I chat (I IM the spouse and kids daily) I 2 use the lingo as I pick it up, but IMHO when 1 is trying to xpres ideas and information 2 others I prefer the more traditional longhand. As far as spelling and grammar go, the main point here is that you are being understood. Good spelling and grammar are like icing on the cake which makes it look nicer and taste better… IMHO anyway.
