SMTA w/ fasthitch

Was the fasthitch common on early production SMTA? I have seen 5 in my area that are early production models, the latest one built in March. Also, on the serial number plate they all have: 3-55 stamped on them. It is an entirely different looking stamp than the serial number.
Also, they are all high-drum cotton picker models if that makes any difference.
