Hi William, one time my Dad was baling with the 46 and the knotter side wheel dropped in a wood chuck hole just as a bale was being tied, broke shear bolt for needles, spring on stop block was broken, plunger hit the needles, broke one and bent the other. Had one welded and straightend the other by heating with oxy-acetalyne torch.
After re-installing needles could not adjust them properly, realized that the needle under carriage (round U shaped pipe) was also bent so had to take it off and heat with tourch and straightend.
