IH made Garden Tractors from 1960 through 1981. In 1981, when IH was in financial trouble, they sold the Cub Cadet division to CCC (Cub Cadet Corporation) which is now MTD. During the IH ownership, the majority of the Cub Cadets were Garden Tracors, however to compete with the low end marketers, IH introduced a few Lawn Tractor models.
