Phil: I have 3 conversions here, 1953 SA, 130 and 140. These tractors are very easy to convert. I just welded a flat plate on top of current generator mount, then a couple of tabs for mounting Delco alternator. The pulley I use is double V off the older GM V8 engines. Use the V farterest from alternator. This allows you to set alternator lower and tuck it in closer to engine block, makes for a neater looking job.

My Super A is alternator and is still 6 volt. You can change the built in regulator on the Delco alternator for either 6 volt or 12 volt. This requires no change on tractor. You will have an extra wire in harness, I use that for exciting alternator. I have a starter type push button switch on dash to excite alternator. With that no danger of leaving it on and draining battery when tractor is not running. I like this better than my 12 volt conversions as I have big amperage charging and still 6 volt.

If you go to 12 volt then you must change the lights, change coil or add a resistor, then add devices for exciting alternator, etc. Under Articles go to article by Bob M and his wiring diagrams. He will be very helpful should you need it.

On my 130 and 140, I needed new lights so I just bought 12 volt. I changed my coils to 12 volt with built in resistor. Only good source for those I've found is CaseIH. I still use the push button on these for exciting the alternator. I tried the light as in Bob's diagram. I couldn't get the exact light Bob called for thus I had poor success.
