CHeck to see if he is getting a good stream of fuel to the injector pump. It could be as simple as a cloged fuel line or filter. I had a 966 that would do that every time the fuel got down to 1/4 tank. A piece of crap would float over and lay on the fuel outlet near the bottom of the tank. Got so I caried a basket ball pump to whooof the line back open.
