Shorted it out

Was doing some work with my 400D and went to shut it down by switching over to gas. Turned on the ignition switch, switched it over, noticed the ammeter go to the far left side, and the tractor shut down on it's own. Smoke was rolling out of the dash. Pulled back the dash and noticed a short from the lug of a wire connected to the ignition "Bat" terminal to one of the hydraulic linkages. Evidently the operation of the linkage wore a hole in the insulation and shorted. Now there is no power. The dash fuse is OK. Looked at the wiring diagram and the circuit runs from the battery, through the ammeter, to the voltage regulator ("Bat" terminal), and then through the regulator, out the "L" terminal, then to the ignition switch "Bat" terminal (the one that had the shorted wire connected). My guess is I burned up the ammeter or the voltage regulator. Any suggestions?
