Question for tractor vet

have a 706 question left rear axel housing has been replaced by some one the bull gear shaft extends too far out to get the plug in brake housing alowing water to get in thats not to much of a concern but it must have been replaced with one from some other model also oil from trans gets into that side i would like forit not to Could it be that the inner bearing cup in trans housing has been removed or is there some other way oil can get into bull gear housing I am going to have to adjust or replace outer axel bearing anyway what are your thoughts on this thanks ed
