If cutting it off seems too short stroked, Id use a cold chisel on it. Put a piece of square bar stock under the rusty nut, and on top of a blocked up hydraulic jack. apply enough lift to tightrn in thesquare stock, not bend the shaft, Then use a sharp cold chisel to put a serious nick in the opposite flat. Turn the system and have at the next flat. if your grooves are 1/8 inch deep, two or three flats with grooves will loosen up the threads. Use PB blaster as well, and grind off the mushroomed threads.
This will work!!
